“There’s nothing else we can do.”

 

I was reading an article about Soumya Vishwanathan’s murder on Shamya Dasgupta’s blog, who was her colleague at Headlines Today. A very moving piece, without a doubt, but not unlike a detailed obituary. There were these lines which went:

Soumya’s murder needs to be avenged. There’s nothing else we can do.

This was more than moving, this was JOLTING. What was worse was the fact that the feeling was not alien. We, nay I, do it all the time. When there is nothing I can do, I avenge. Thank you Shamya for disrobing my naivety.

I am sorry Soumya.
